In today’s rapidly changing world, stress has become a common issue, with many individuals experiencing high levels of stress daily. Chronic exposure to stress can significantly impact well-being, making the relationship between stress and mental health a critical area of concern. This survey aims to examine the effects of stress on mental health among urban residents aged 18 to 65 who experience high levels of stress daily.

The study focuses on the link between stress and mental health within a specific demographic. The target population includes adults aged 18 to 65 living in urban areas who report experiencing significant daily stress. This group was chosen because urban residents often face challenges such as heavy traffic, noise pollution, and high living costs.

Stratified sampling is the most appropriate method for collecting data in this study. In stratified sampling, the population is divided into subgroups based on specific characteristics (in this case, location and age), and participants are randomly selected from each subgroup. For instance, if the survey targets adults in urban areas of North Carolina aged 18 to 65 who report high levels of daily stress, the population would first be divided into age groups (e.g., 18-25, 26-35, etc.), and participants would be selected from each group.

The survey would include questions regarding participants’ daily stress levels, coping mechanisms, symptoms of stress-induced anxiety or depression, and access to mental health resources. By administering surveys to a representative sample of the target population, researchers can gain insights into how stress impacts the mental health of urban adults.

    Analysis of Results

After analyzing the data collected from 60 urban residents in North Carolina, it was found that a significant proportion of respondents experience high levels of daily stress. Specifically, 29 out of 60 participants reported experiencing substantial stress regularly, with a sample proportion of approximately 0.516667 and a confidence interval ranging from 0.388 to 0.646. Additionally, a notable percentage of respondents sought professional help or counseling to manage their stress in the past year, with 26 participants acknowledging this, corresponding to a sample proportion of about 0.4333 and a confidence interval between 0.305 and 0.561.

Interestingly, when asked to rate their average daily stress level on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, the mean response was 5.383, with a standard deviation of 1.967. Moreover, participants reported engaging in stress-relieving activities such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies for an average of 24.2 hours per week.

The survey results underscore the prevalence of daily stress among urban residents and the importance of seeking professional assistance or participating in stress-relief activities as part of effective stress management strategies. The findings also highlight the need for further research and intervention efforts aimed at addressing mental health issues among urban populations in North Carolina, as well as exploring possible correlations between stress levels and age groups within this demographic.

    Limitations and Constraints

The survey, which involved 60 participants, provided valuable insights into the stress levels faced by urban residents in North Carolina. The questions were clearly worded, enabling accurate data collection a
